Ely and Soham Wedding Cambridgeshire

I’m back.. Hope everyone had a restful Easter holiday? I worked a wedding on Good Friday but on Saturday it was time to set off and get to Wales where I am currently and working a little as you do when you’re self-employed. I have enjoyed a little time out even though still planning my Social Media posts. I really do need to get my sh*t together anyway so a good few hours working today will be great. I’m back home tomorrow and straight into a photoshoot, which I am really excited about!

So, the wedding I’m blogging today was quite an extravagant affair in the beautiful city of Ely with the ceremony taking place at St Mary’s Church ( which is just behind the Cathedral) and I was once again working with friend photographer, Ryan Jarvis Photography. I’d been in London previously and he needed an extra pair of hands as it was such a big wedding. So from London I travelled up to Cambridgeshire and stayed just 8 miles outside the city. My day started up at the farmhouse where all the groomsmen were getting ready before heading to the Red Lion in Soham for a pre-wedding meal of Beef Wellington and a few speeches, port and gents banter. It was a late afternoon wedding with a ceremony about 3.00pm and with light fading early during the month of December, the church was beautifully lit with candles. When Emma, the bride arrived in a vintage Range Rover I can honestly say she looked so beautiful in her slim fit wedding gown with a gorgeous cathedral veil.

What made this wedding extra special to the groom and his family, was that the family’s beautiful Jack Russell Terriers were allowed to attend the service. How sweet know and being such a huge dog lover, I made sure to photograph them many times without overkill naturally!

By the time we headed out of church, the light was disappearing fast so lining up some mist of the guests for a confetti line was done very quickly. Disappearing natural light can be challenging when it comes to situations like this - movement and not a lot of light. I took my position to capture the shots by standing on a wall and so glad I did. Ryan and I then headed to the couple’s reception to grab candids of guests and table decor before everyone sat down and the bride and groom entering to a room of guests twirling napkins as they walked around the tables to take their seats in readiness for the speeches. Once the speeches had finished, it was my time to leave so off to McDonalds I went with the hubby for a much needed lunch/dinner & supper all in one. What a beautiful and very smart wedding to have been part of!
