Wedding Photography at The Chequers Inn - Woolsthorpe - Leicestershire - Vale of Belvoir

As Storm Dennis rages outside, I’ve ridden my horse, Ollie, I thought I’d take an hour out and blog another fantastic wedding I photographed back in the summer of 2018. Such a fabulous day where the sun shone until late evening but by then, the party was in full swing.

A little bit of background about Gemma and Warren. Warren, a Yorkshire guy met Gemma, a Grantham lass, both enjoy walking and generally keeping active. Warren proposed to Gemma on top of Moel Famou Mountain in North Wales - now that’s seriously romantic! As an avid hill walker myself and loving the hills of Wales/Lakes and Scotland, this would be perfect for me. So, Gemma said YES and wedding planning began.

So my day began photographing the preparations with Gemma, her mum, dad and bridesmaids over in Grantham while Rob, my second shooter for the day, photographed the guys at The Gregory Arms, in Harlaxton. Gemma had opted for a very simple yet exquisitely elegant wedding dress from Emily Bridal Wear in Sheffield. It was perfect and she looked amazing wearing it. Her make-up was by Amy Dowe from nearby Allington Manor with hair by Melanie Rhodes hair over at The Bridal Hair Stylist. Gemma’s beautiful bouquet and the flower decor was delicately prepared by the fabulous Zinnia Florist in Bingham, Nottingham.

Once I had documented the bridal preps, it was time for me to make my way over to St Michael’s & All Angels Church in nearby village of Harston. Gemma chose this particular church as her grandparent’s had married there. Also, Gemma’s godparents had arranged a floral archway as a surprise which Warren had, had no idea about. It would be my first time photographing a wedding here. Wait until you see the classic sportswear Gemma arrived in, just beautiful!

So after the ceremony we all went off to The Chequer’s Inn, in nearby village Woolsthorpe. Honestly this venue is warm, welcoming and set in a lovely location which makes it perfect as a wedding venue. I really loved this venue and the food was simply delicious and we were looked after very well throughout the day. A vintage tractor made for a quick photo with all the friend’s of Gemma which made smiles all round. In the wedding breakfast room, Gemma’s mum had made the lovely floral loops hanging up and the stunning cake by The Confetti Cakery based in Grantham. A huge colouring picture kept guests entertained while also recording special little messages.

A brilliant wedding day with a warm, friendly crowd and being well looked after the whole time it was a real privilege being a part of this very special day of Gemma and Warrens.
